Courageous Coral

Quick little post about my fave lipstick at the moment 'Coral in gold' by Rimmel. I've never wore pink lipstick in my life, it's just not me. Personally it's too girly for me and I just don't think it would suit my colouring. It's probably better suited to blondes! I like a red lip every so often but again I never really think it suits me even though my mum/housemates insist it does. It might look okay in real life but on photos I always feel like a massive drag queen so I've stopped wearing it. I've always loved orange/coral lipstick - to the extent where I bought a Halloween make up kit when I was about 14 just because it had orange lipstick in (god knows why I didn't just go to Boots!). It was only a £1 and awful quality but it was good to experiment with. I knew the colour suited me but I was at that age where I was scared to be different so I never wore it again. Anywayyyy, I'm a lot older now and not as scared to experiment so I thought I'd give it another go. Plus coral lipstick seems to be really big this year so I won't be getting any funny looks walking down the street wearing it which is always good!!

I tested it in the shop and my housemate said 'There's only 5 people in the entire world that suit orange lipstick and you're one of them!' - obviously she was just being very cute and I'm sure a lot of people suit it but after that I knew I wanted to buy it. When I tested it in the shop, I used my finger so the colour wasn't very overpowering. It wasn't until I got home that I realised it's actually quite shimmery when you apply it properly and can be quite bright. BUT there's nothing wrong with a bit of shimmer shimmer on a night out so I've decided to apply it thick in the evenings but leave it more subdued in the daytime. By lightly dabbing it on, you can see a glimpse of colour but it doesn't look like I've made too much of an effort. As you can see from the photo above, it's not a statement lipstick (although it's probably intended to be) but I feel like it gives my pale complexion a bit of warmth and colour and it evens everything out a little bit. If you get my drift.

What do you guys think about coral lipstick?

  10. I love this lipstick, often wear it to work as it's a subtle colour so adds just a little bit of glam to my rather boring black look! I replied to the comment you left on my post but not sure if you'll read it so i'll reply on here as well. I'm studying criminology on city campus but as part of one of my modules i have to travel to clifton this year so i could see you around there too. Trent is a small world so could see you out as well, you going to any of the returner events?

    xx
