One dress, two ways.

THE 'EDGY' LOOK

Primark via ASOS dress
Tesco jumper
Primark gold chain
Topshop socks
Ebay jellies
Bag bought from a market stall

Hello my lovelies. I'm finally getting around to posting about my Primark via ASOS dress that I'm absolutely in love with! I mentioned a few weeks ago that the dress was a bit long and baggy so my mum took it to the alteration shop and now it's all lovely and fitted! I can't believe I ever considered turning it in to a 2 piece, it is literally the cutest dress ever! I'm so glad I bought it because I don't normally wear colour but I think it has to be one of my favourite things in my wardrobe at the minute. First orange, then blue, now red.. what is happening to me?! The Queen of Black is wearing colour!!! I normally feel really tacky wearing colour but now I can't imagine my wardrobe without it! I automatically feel happier when I wear something bright red or blue :) Out of the two outfits, I guess you could say this is the more 'edgy' look. I wore this to Nottingham the other day and chucked my black jumper over the top because it looked a bit breezy out. I've literally been living out of this jumper recently. Socks and jellies.. what a great invention! To say I'm in love with this combo would be an understatement.

THE 'CUTE' LOOK

Primark via ASOS dress
Missguided boots
Topshop socks

You can see the dress in more detail here and I'm sure that anyone else who has this dress will notice what a difference the alterations have made. It's now the length that I want it (cheeky!) and it fits more like a babydoll dress than a sack of potatoes like it did before! I'm sure it looks lovely on people even without the alterations, but I'm only 5"3 and I'm really small on top so it just didn't look right. Clothes fit people differently so I think it's worth the money and effort to get things altered to suit each body shape. This is the simplified version of the dress and is the more 'cute/sophisticated' look. I wore this exact outfit when I went to visit my boyfriend in London and I think it suited the occasion well. My boyfriend certainly doesn't get the whole jelly shoe/gangster gold chain thing so I left the pimped up version at home and went for the more parent appropriate option.. although I did stand on my boyfriends mums toe with the heel of my boot, oopsies! I used to live out of these boots at uni but I've kinda abandoned them recently. I thought I'd whip them out to give me a bit of added height as they're not too casual but not too dressy. Got my little white socks poking out of the top too!

Which look do you prefer?

  8. I love this dress it's really great and you styled it so well :) I probably do prefer the first look because although I do like the simplicity of the second look, there's something about the first way that you've styled it that just draws me in, you have a great blog x

  9. I really love the first layered look for when it starts getting a bit cooler - maybe with some tights though so my legs don't freeze!
