WHAT I WOULD PACK FOR A WEEKEND AWAY.

The dreaded question: what to pack for a weekend away?

I headed over to Facebook for a browse through some old holiday snaps in the hope of finding a glimpse of inspiration. Truth be told, in less than 30 seconds I was completely enthralled in a spiral of memories that took me back to the good old days of '2K9' (as us not so cool kids liked to call it). I've made a quick slideshow below to share with you a few of my favourite travelling experiences.

And then I realised... what do all of these photos have in common? Me! Nothing else but me, a few friends, the occasional bag hanging off of my shoulder and an almighty smile plastered across my face. It isn't until you reflect on past experiences that you realise how little material possessions matter. Do I remember what pair of shoes I was wearing on the beach in Tanzania that year? No. Did I throw a strop because I forgot to pack my favourite red lipstick that I 'definitely' needed in Berlin? Well yes probably... but did it affect my trip in any way, shape or form? No, not in the slightest.

Travelling is about experiencing. You can experience in style or you can stroll around the streets of Rome in a pair of khaki combats and a pair of kitten heels. Regardless, a weekend away should be remembered for the people you were with, the things you did and the fun you had. What you pack in your suitcase is irrelevant.

What have my old holiday photos taught me? That, despite the hours and hours spent trawling the shops for the perfect pair of sunglasses or the most flattering bikini, all you really need is a camera to record those special moments that might otherwise be forgotten.
