CONTIKI BEACHES & REEFS / AUSTRALIA DAY 8

(All photos are my own except the second one. Source: link)

This is the one day of the tour I remember the least, which is why there aren't a lot of photos! It basically involved everyone passing out on the coach (and getting endless amounts of photos taken of them) before we made a stop in Brisbane on our way to Noosa. When we were in Brisbane, I can remember thinking it was really empty and quiet, nothing like a major city in the UK! Then I remembered how HUGE Australia is and how underpopulated it is compared to the UK, so the major cities were a lot more relaxed and lacked that 'buzz' and hustle and bustle. It's so bizarre because the city has a giant man-made lagoon and beach right next to the Brisbane River, overlooked by huge skyscrapers (see above). It's basically the equivalent of having a fake beach in the middle of Canary Wharf - very random! Like an idiot I forgot to wear my bikini so I couldn't go for a swim, but a few of us sat on the ledge and dipped our feet in whilst soaking up the rays! We went to the local shopping centre for lunch (I had Mexican as per) before heading 2 hours North to our next stop, Noosa!

We got dropped off at the beach & weren't being picked up again until it was time to check in to our resort. Not ideal for me as I forgot to pack my bikini/towel in my day bag so I was kinda limited to what I could do. I couldn't sunbathe (no bikini), I couldn't go in the sea (no bikini) so I basically ended up sleeping on someone else's towel whilst everyone else played in the sea! *crys* Forever being my ditsy unorganised self!

After a pretty uneventful day, we arrived at the resort before heading out for an included dinner at a surf club. I took the photo of the tree (above) on our way to the surf club - isn't it just beautiful? We went to an off licence after dinner to get wine with plans of having a big old house party in one of the apartments at the resort. When we got back, we all sat around and watched some of the skydive videos (including mine - CRINGE) on the dvd player and people were chilling on the balcony and playing drinking games etc. I think I was having one of those 'off' days though where I just wasn't in the mood to socialise/get drunk so I ended up being a boring cow and having an early night. We all have those cba days sometimes, don't we? When you're with people 24/7, sometimes you need a bit of alone time away from it all - we're only human after all!

Tomorrow we're off to one of my favourite places in the world, Fraser Island!
