Fashion For Home - Home Love competition

As you all know, I'm a huge lover of interior design and anything vintage & shabby chic. I recently came across a competition by Fashion For Home called Home Love and I jumped at the chance to enter! My first ever post on this blog was an interior post about my uni room, so this time I thought I'd focus my attention on my favourite part of the room, my shelves.

I'm pretty much addicted to bunting. Every inch of wall in my room is covered in it! Bought from eBay for the bargain price of £7, it's the perfect way to update a pair of boring shelves and make a real statement. I wouldn't be able to relax in the evening if it wasn't for my (obsessively) large collection of candles. They make any room feel warm, cosy and inviting. I get a real buzz out of decorating my room with things lying around the house that I can make into something pretty. My starbucks cup, for example. Wash it out, make a hole and bobs your uncle.. a quirky vase! I bought these pretty photo frames from a charity shop and used some Laura Ashley wallpaper I had lying around as the photo. The leftover Jaegermeister bottles add a touch of 'rock n roll' to the floral and delicate looking shelves. I always wanted a vintage camera when I was younger, so I picked this one up in a charity shop a few years back for £3.50.

I love Laura Ashley & Cath Kidston as much as the next person, but being a student has made me realise that you can achieve this look for next to nothing. There really is no need to spend a lot on interiors with shops such as primark and sainsburys, who do a lovely range of vintage style interiors! I'll be honest, my room at home is a lot more extravagant with Laura Ashley wallpaper and beautiful white wooden furniture with a white wrought iron bed. But for your bog standard uni room, I think simple accessories really can make all the difference.
